Ive always disliked birthdays and new years. Every other holiday is fine by me but those two are not.... I guess i don't really dislike them as much as I just get really introspective around those times. The two holidays have something fundamental in common for me - they both represent the passage of yet another year. So I look inwards and do a stock taking of my goals and where I am with them and what I've been able to achieve in the 12 months since. Needless to say the results aren't always pretty. Sigh...... So I surprised myself and submitted my very first artwork today as opposed to the weekend as I had earlier decided. It's fan art based in the Ted movie. The incongruity between something as a cute as a teddy embodying this party animal weed smoking, beer swigging personality just struck me so much I had to put it down on paper. Funny thing is that I usually procrastinate and hem and haw when it comes to other areas in my life I guess sometimes you just have to put yourself put there whether or not you think out are prepared. This is going to be a fairly long post: I have always loved expression through art. whether through music or drawing or writing. Any form of expression that truly captured the inner mind and communicated universally appealed to me. And then i grew up. went of to study law, played basketball (point guard) for a bit, and envisioned a life spent running businesses from behind a really large desk. And then out of nowhere that love returned....the rush of starting a new challenging project, the joy of capturing that moment or that thought and putting it down, the endless fussing over a drawing trying to make sure its "complete"......
